Disciplinary Governance Assessment Tool
DGAT is an evidence-led governance tool designed to assess whether disciplinary decisions are procedurally sound at the point they are made.
It does not judge outcomes, predict tribunal results, or provide legal advice. Instead, DGAT examines the decision record itself — the documents, correspondence, and written reasoning — and assesses whether required procedural safeguards are present, recorded, and supported by evidence.
What DGAT Does
DGAT analyses disciplinary records against recognised employment law standards and governance principles, including statutory duties and established codes of practice.
It evaluates, in parallel:
- Employment Law Alignment: Whether the record demonstrates core procedural safeguards such as investigation, clarity of allegations, opportunity to respond, reasoned decision-making, and appeal.
- Internal Policy Consistency: Whether the decision appears consistent with the organisation’s own documented procedures, where those policies are provided.
Findings are presented clearly and separately, allowing organisations to distinguish between policy compliance and legal defensibility.
